Remarkable Recreation Solutions focuses on providing Parks and Recreation Organizations with the answers they need in order to THRIVE! Every agency has areas where they need to improve, and we help take them to that next level. The firm was started by Mark Honberger, in early 2017, after a long career (30+ years) in the Parks and Recreation Profession where he experienced huge success in managing Recreation Facility Operations.

MARK HONBERGER

Mark Honberger is the Director of Remarkable Recreation Solutions. He has over 30 years’ experience in the Parks and Recreation Profession, most recently as the General Manager for the “Coalinga-Huron Recreation and Park District” in California (a Special District). He brings a wide breadth of experience that includes working in Non-Profit Recreation, Commercial Recreation, Faith-Based Recreation, and of course Municipal Recreation; both with Cities & Special Districts.

Mark has been very active as a leader in the profession; and regularly served on leadership committees both with CPRS (the California Park and Recreation Society) & with APRA (Arizona Park and Recreation Association). Additionally, he is also a well-received speaker at state-wide Park and Recreation Conferences, and has spoken in California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, & Rhode Island. At each conference he speaks at, he is asked to provide multiple Education Sessions (& occasionally the Keynote Address); having delivered 27 sessions in the past 5 years. Sought out as an expert in managing the Operations of Recreation Facilities, Mark has put together workshops on a dozen or so topics. These workshops provide a “Nuts-And-Bolts,” “Rubber-Meets-The-Road,” type of education that are full of practical “Get-It-Done-Now” types of solutions for Parks and Recreation Agencies… solutions that are based on a career spent seeking the best and most efficient ways of doing business. Mark always seeks ways to improve himself and his agency.

At the end of 2016, Mark moved to Arizona with his family, where he now enjoys working on his “homestead” near Show Low, AZ. Mark loves giving back to the Parks & Recreation Profession and is now working with Recreation Agencies on a consulting basis. He started his own company called “REMARKABLE RECREATION SOLUTIONS,” providing creative & strategic solutions to meet the budgetary and community needs of Recreation Agencies to help them THRIVE!

PHILOSOPHY FOR WMLCRID (The "Lake District")

Mark Honberger is all about community engagement & citizen input. He wants to hear from each and every community member regarding their ideas for improving the lake experience. Mark's approach to special districts involves a "Continual Improvement" Model, by striving to be better today, than we were yesterday. By taking a series of small daily steps forward, after a bit, we can look back and see how far we have really come. Mark believes in creating Recreation Facilities to be "gathering places" that are Unique, Utilized, and Uniting; with user policies that Invite, Inform, and Involve participants in upholding extreme standards of quality, cleanliness, and safety.
